What is Crime?

Punishment is a measure applied to a person as a result of having committed an act considered wrong, immoral or illegal. Its purpose is to deter inappropriate behaviour, correct attitudes or restore social order. Punishment can be physical, psychological or social, and varies depending on the cultural, legal and social context.
